Description
Lobelia sect. Lobelia (Campanulaceae) is a North American wildflower clade comprising 23 species that variously co-occur across different spatial scales, from local to continental. This group has consistently been recovered as monophyletic and includes one of the most widespread species in North America, Lobelia cardinalis. In this study we use population-level phylogenomic analyses and sampling that includes 380 single/low-copy nuclear genes generated via Hyb-Seq target enrichment from 700+ accessions. We will generate inferences to clarify species-level diversity and investigate the historical processes affecting species distributions and community composition. Additionally, we hope to disentangle several putative hybridization scenarios.
